UAE ranked 38th best university in 'Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2020'

The United Arab Emirates University has made a new achievement by elevating 11 centers according to the Times Higher Education Ranking for 2020, ranking 38.

The Times Higher Education Classification of Universities for the 2020 session was announced in early June 2020.

The university has made great progress in joining the top 50 Asian universities for the first time, outperforming 11 ranks (from 49th last year to 38th in 2020).

Prof. Ghaleb Ali Al-Buraiki, Acting Director of the University, stressed that this achievement of the university is the fruit of the keenness and interest of the UAE in reaching distinguished achievements at various levels at the international level and the result of the distinguished efforts made by faculty members, researchers, employees and university students, as it is an indication of the development of scientific research and entrepreneurship. This upgrading of the ranking guarantees it in the future to be among the best rated international universities.

The Acting Director of the University pointed out that the Emirates University is working to develop its strategic programs and plans in line with the UAE vision 2071, and this comes through leadership and excellence in scientific research and development of its programs in building national capacities, science strategy and preparing a generation capable of continuing the path of sustainable development in the country.

This classification depends on the same criteria that the International Times classification uses for universities, so universities evaluate their performance of their basic tasks which are education, scientific research, knowledge diffusion, and the international academic community’s view of them, but the methodology that this classification covered for the current year has been reformulated to reflect the characteristics and priorities of development For universities in these countries.

The United Arab Emirates University appeared in two of the three regional rankings in the latest rankings of the universities of the world, and it ranked among the best 301-350 universities around the world, being the highest ranked universities among the four national universities eligible to appear in this classification.

The Emirates University is the first comprehensive national university in the United Arab Emirates and was founded in 1976 by a decision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul. The number of students currently enrolled in the university is approximately 14,000 students studying in 9 colleges, and teaching what Close to 900 faculty members from a distinguished elite of international faculty.

The UAE University offers 90 varied academic degrees at doctoral, master's and bachelor's levels.

The university aspires to become the University of the Future and within its endeavor to achieve an international research position contributing to the efforts of the United Arab Emirates targeting the requirements of the National Agenda 2021.
