huge fire engulfs historic new york church

A huge fire hits a church complex that includes the Freedom Bell in New York.

A massive fire affected a historic church complex in Lower Manhattan that houses the "Freedom Bell" Church in New York, and the sect that follows it dates back to the early days of the city, according to Sky News Arabia.

The synagogue in the East Village burned down before dawn after a fire started from an adjacent five-story vacant building at around 5 am.

The flames emerged from the ceiling of the historic "Freedom Bell" church and its imposing front window.

In the context, city councilor Carolina Rivera tweeted, saying that there were no reports of injuries.

Built in 1892, the complex is one of the oldest church complexes in New York, which dates back to the period of Dutch settlement of the island in the 1920s, according to the church's website.

There are two other sites of churches of the same denomination in Manhattan since 1729.

The Bell Tower Church in New York houses the famous landmark, who rang to announce the nation's birth in 1776, and since then it has been ringing at the inauguration or death of American presidents or at famous events such as the 9/11 memorials.
